Eagles Spotlight: Will Adair '19

"I loved being a part of the swim team and qualifying for states in 100m Breaststroke was a huge accomplishment. Swimming is really hard, it taught me great perseverance." Will Adair '19.
 
Junior Will Adair contributes greatly to the Rabun Gap community as a student-athlete. An excellent swimmer and track runner, Will enjoys being an athlete for the life skills and comradery that sports brings. Will is already looking at top tier colleges that can support his dreams of becoming a doctor.
 
How did you end up at Rabun Gap? I ended up at Rabun Gap because my parents wanted me to be closer to home since we had moved to Cashiers, N.C. after living in Atlanta for 15 years.
 
What is your personal philosophy? My personal philosophy is to be the best person I can be. Also, to be kind to everyone as much as possible.
 
At what age did you start track and what role does it fulfill in your life? I started track when I was 12 years old, it helps me become more relaxed as well making some good friends in the process.
 
How did you enjoy being part of the swim team at Rabun Gap and what role does swimming play in your life? I loved being a part of the swim team and qualifying for states in 100m Breaststroke was a huge accomplishment. Swimming is really hard, it taught me great perseverance.
 
What do you like to do in your free time? I like to hang out with my friends, my girlfriend, play with my dogs, camp, anything outdoors really, and hiking
 
What classes do you love here and why? I love all of my classes here. They all teach me different things that I find interesting in different ways.
 
Describe your favorite teacher? What types of things do you do in that class? My favorite teacher is David Landis. He has taught me so much over this past year, he has helped me become a  better writer. He has been very patient with me and I admire that a lot. He is truly a good person to be around.
 
Who do you look up too? I look up to my grandfather, he has taught me how to live a healthy life, having fun,  and teaching me a little mischief along the way. He is a great man and I aspire to be like him one day.
 
What are your greatest talents? I am a very organized person. I also possess scuba diving certificate and a master captains license. I would dive all day if I could.
 
What does success in the classroom mean to you? It means everything, I love to push my limits on a daily basis. Success in the classroom is important but at the same time you have to have fun in the process, you can't just be focused on school, you have to have some friends that you can share moments with.
 
What motivates and inspires you? Achieving success and always pushing myself to be the best person I can be.
 
What are your best habits as a thinker? I think my best habits are best shown in collaboration. I try to lead from the field, the pool, and in the classroom. I feel that I am also a good problem solver who can help others realize certain concepts.

What are the colleges that you have been looking at and would really love to attend, and why? I have been looking at Stanford, Columbia, Davidson, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, Wake Forest, and Emory. I have chosen all of these colleges to look at because I believe that they are all top tier colleges that will challenge me academically. I want to be a double major and be on the pre med track. The schools mentioned above will give me this level of rigor I am looking for.
