Eagles swim team performs well against ACA and Carolina Day

The Rabun Gap swim team sets new state cut times
The Rabun Gap swim team traveled to compete against ACA and Carolina Day on Saturday, February 3. The Eagles came away with five new state cut times. The Eagles started off strong in the 200 Freestyle, Cassidy Hancock and Sam Poole both placed 3rd. Abbey Waters placed 4th. Poole, had an awesome race, dropping 3.93 seconds from his previous best time. Next up, Liam Spoon placed second in the 200 IM, making a cut time.
 
Patrick Woods crushed his heat in the 50 Freestyle, dropping 1.57 seconds. Then, Waters followed up with a 3rd place finish in the 100 Fly, dropping 5.59 seconds from her previous best time.
 
The Eagles had some incredible time drops in the 100 Freestyle: Monse Marquina-4.34 seconds, Elizabeth Taylor-3.16 seconds, Maddie Stowe-1.3 seconds, RayJon Grayson-4.94 seconds, Julio Espinosa Cuetos-3 seconds, Ian Braga-2.84 seconds, Patrick Woods-1.26 seconds, and Kacper Kuzimski dropped 1.06 seconds.
 
The Eagles excelled in the last three events of the meet. Alex Kehoe cruised the 100 Backstroke, dropping 3.24, placing 3rd and making his second state cut time. Gavron Campbell placed 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke, making her first state cut time of the season. In the last event of the meet, Liam Spoon, Will Adair, and Bailey McBride placed 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the 100 Breaststroke. Adair dropped 2.6 seconds and McBride dropped 4.47 second. Spoon, Adair, and McBride all made state cuts in the 100 Breaststroke.
 
Going into the CAA Conference Meet on Friday, the Eagles have 16 state cut times.
