Give to Hodgson Hall

Your Gift Matters

Everyone in the Rabun Gap community has the opportunity to give to Hodgson Hall. From brick dedications to a variety of naming opportunities in the building, the Legacy for the Future campaign unites all supporters at varying levels to make an impact on campus. For further information about naming opportunities, please contact Paige Spivey at 706-746-7731 or pspivey@rabungap.org.

  • Gifts of Securities

Gifts of securities are valued at the median price on the date of transfer to Rabun Gap. Capital gains on the amount of appreciation may be avoided, and depending on the donor's personal tax situation, he or she may receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the stock. Click here for stock transfer information. For information on how to make a gift of securities, contact Paige Spivey, Associate Head of School for Advancement, at 706-746-7731.
  • Matching Gifts

More than 1,000 businesses and companies match donations made by their employees and retirees to independent secondary schools. The process is initiated by the donor, who contacts his or her company's human resources department, or corporate foundation, for the required forms. The value of the matching gift is recognized in the donor's gift record.
  • Other Property

Gifts-in-kind are tangible items such as works of art, equipment, books, furniture, antiques, real estate, and similar non-monetary contributions. A gift of tangible property may result in a tax deduction for the donor, with the amount of the deduction determined by whether or not the gift meets the "related use" test. If you have a question about a gift of tangible property, more information is available through the Advancement Office.
  • Deferred Gifts & Bequests

Many individuals discover that they can make a substantial gift to Rabun Gap through a bequest provision, a life income gift, or a trust. Paige Spivey, Associate Head of School for Advancement, 706-746-7731, can provide details about many types of testamentary or life income gifts. There are tax advantages associated with each type of gift and individuals should seek the advice of their own financial advisors before creating or revising an estate plan.
