  • Q How can I possibly afford to send my child to private school?

    Rabun Gap offers financial aid and scholarships to over 75% of our student body. We encourage all families to apply as some only need a little help while others need considerable assistance to bridge the gap between tuition and what they can afford. 
  • Q What is the best way to connect with parents to arrange car pools and purchase used uniforms and textbooks?

    You can connect through our GAP Parent Connection.  We will also provide you with upcoming dates of used uniform and book sales.
  • Q Does Rabun Gap offer bus transportation?  If so, how much does it cost and when is the pick-up and drop-off?

    Yes!  Rabun Gap recognizes that accessible and affordable transportation is an important part of the Rabun Gap experience.  Each school year, we offer round trip bus service to the following three communities, provided at least one family requests the service.  The bus fee is $750.00 a year, per student.

    Bus Routes with possible stops:
    • Franklin - Franklin, Otto
    • Highlands - Bryson's Grocery, Highlands/Cashiers Hospital
    • Clarkesville - Downtown Clarkesville, Hollywood, Tallulah Falls
    • Clayton - Ingles
    Important considerations:
    • Exact pick­up and drop­off locations with times will be determined by community need and will be announced in the summer.
    • Express interest in this service using the online registration forms sent to you from the Admission Office each summer.
    • Participants are billed over eight months.
  • Q What sports do you offer?  Can I still participate in activities not connected to Rabun Gap?

    No family is required to participate in Rabun Gap after school activities while in middle school. However, after school activities are required once a student moves to the upper school. Due to athletic conference regulations, 5th grade students cannot participate in athletics 
  • Q What do you mean you have school on Saturday! 

    We have school on three Saturday’s throughout the year.  During these half­day “Community Days” we immerse the whole campus in various activities designed to engage students in learning.  
  • Q What is the purpose of tutorials?

    Teachers use tutorials to help young learners gain extra confidence and ability in a subject of difficulty. We also utilize this time to support our athletes that travel for games. This is a great time to make up lessons or finish work early. 
  • Q How much homework should I expect per night?

    Most nights, you can expect about an hour of evening homework. 
  • Q What is the earliest I can drop off my student with an 8:45 start time?

    You can drop off your children at the Middle School as early as 7:15 AM.
  • Q What do you do in Advisory groups?

    Our advisory program serves to connect the student with their whole understanding of self. We assign gender specific groups of six to eight students to middle school faculty members. In addition to classroom teachers, the advisor is the primary school contact for parents. For students, the advisor is the personal connection to and support for their entire Rabun Gap experience. Advisory groups meet weekly and tackle issues such as identity, connectivity with others, diversity and inclusion, as well as many other core areas of personal growth for middle school students.
