Rick Reetz joins the Upper School math department

Rick Reetz joins the Rabun Gap community as a new math teacher at the Upper School. He will also serve as Offensive Coordinator for the football team.

Mr. Reetz comes to Rabun Gap from the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas, where he taught STEM and established a robotics team. Mr. Reetz has been teaching since 2005 and has 30 years of coaching experience. He began teaching as an adjunct Professor at University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth, Charlton School of Business, teaching graduate level statistics, and then moved to teaching at the middle school level at the SAGE School (School for Academically Gifted Education). Mr. Reetz has taught a variety of subjects including math, physics, statistics, engineering, and personal finance. In 2020, he won the “Guiding Light of Excellence'' Award from the Charleston County School District in South Carolina. Prior to teaching, Mr. Reetz designed and manufactured production processes for Boeing, Harley Davidson, General Electric, and more. He holds an M.B.A. in Business Management from Bryant University and a B.S. Business Management from Rhode Island College.

In his spare time, he enjoys walking his golden retriever, spending time with his family, and writing a book. He will live on campus with his wife, Kim and their daughter, Jillian ’24.
