Arts Facilities

The arts program is housed in the beautiful Arts & Technology Building on campus - offering three floors of studio and performance space dedicated to the visual and performing arts.

Rearden Theater

The beautiful 600-seat Rearden Theater features a recently renovated audio system in front of a 40’ x 40’ proscenium stage. With over 150 dimmers, a 40 line-set counterweight fly rail, and state-of-the-art digital projector, this theater is home to all of our mainstage productions. The theater also provides space for dozens of smaller events, gatherings, chapels, and convocations.

Blackbox

The Blackbox serves as an additional performance space for small intimate productions and a dedicated training room for our Cirque program. With our free-standing truss towers, Cirque equipment is easily and safely hung for Cirque students to hone their skills.

Digital Media Lab

Our Digital Media allows the arts program to teach a wide array of technical skills with up-to-date, industry-standard software. Students have access to iMac computers installed with the full Adobe Creative Suite and professional photography and videography equipment. This classroom is home to our film and photography classes.

Bivins-Jones Art Gallery

The Bivins-Jones Gallery on the second floor of the A&T Building houses a rotating collection of shows from regional artists and offers space for student work to be showcased. This space offers a great opportunity for students to meet working artists and to view the visual arts from other perspectives.

Music Rooms

Rabun Gap has two spacious music rooms in the A&T Building: one houses our Lower School strings and music classes, and the other is home to the orchestra and choral Upper School programs. In addition to multiple sound-proof practice rooms and two dedicated music rooms on the Middle School campus, Rabun Gap also hosts a variety of non-traditional performance spaces for our musicians to perform.

Dance Studios

There are two dance studios housed in the A&T Building and one on our Middle School campus. All three are equipped with wall-length mirrors, dance barres, changing rooms, and customized dance flooring.

Art Studios

There are three fully equipped art studios in the Upper School and one studio on our Middle School Campus. Large windows facing the mountains, natural light, and high ceilings, make our studios an inspiring space to create. Studios are equipped with electric wheels, light tables, and creative supplies to work in a variety of mediums.

Scene Shop

Scene Shop

Located adjacent to the Rearden Stage, our fully functioning scene shop exists to build sets and props for all of our productions and events. With a large collection of tools and supplies, this space represents the hands-on crafting component of our arts curriculum.
