Frequently Asked Questions

List of 7 frequently asked questions.

  • Q How can I possibly afford to send my child to private school?

Rabun Gap offers financial aid and scholarships to over 75% of our student body. We encourage all families to apply as some only need a little help while others need considerable assistance to bridge the gap between tuition and what they can afford.
  • Q How much homework should I expect per night?

Most nights, you can expect about two to four hours of homework each evening.
  • Q Does Rabun Gap offer bus transportation?  If so, how much does it cost and where is pick-up and drop-off?

Yes!  Rabun Gap recognizes that accessible and affordable transportation is an important part of the Rabun Gap experience.  Each school year, we offer round-trip bus service to the following three communities, provided at least one family requests the service.  The bus fee is $750.00 a year, per student.

    Bus Routes with possible stops:
    • Franklin - Franklin, Otto
    • Highlands - Bryson's Grocery, Highlands/Cashiers Hospital
    • Clarkesville - Downtown Clarkesville, Hollywood, Tallulah Falls
    • Clayton - Ingles
    Important considerations:
    • Exact pickup and drop-off locations with times will be determined by community need and will be announced in the summer.
    • Express interest in this service using the online registration forms sent to you from the Admission Office each summer.
    • Participants are billed over eight months.
  • Q What is the purpose of Tutorials?

Teachers use tutorials to help young learners gain extra confidence and ability in a subject of difficulty.  We also utilize this time to support our athletes that travel for games.  This is a great time to make up lessons or finish work early.
  • Q What do you do in Advisory groups?

Our advisory program serves to connect the student with their whole understanding of self.  We assign small groups of students to upper school faculty members.  This advisor is the primary school contact for parents.  For students, the advisor is the personal connection to and support for their entire Rabun Gap experience.  Advisory groups meet weekly and tackle issues such as identity, connectivity with others, diversity and inclusion, as well as many other core areas of personal growth for upper school students.
