Grades K-2: Rabun Gap’s Lower School uses a multisensory, structured, research-based approach to teaching reading that builds strong foundational skills and confidence. Students master phonics, word study, and fluency through engaging instruction and Geodes readable texts—accessible books that build vocabulary, content knowledge, and curiosity about science, history, and the arts.
Grades 3-5: Students are encouraged to choose books that spark their curiosity and match their interests. Classroom libraries and decodable books support skill-building, while weekly library visits and our dedicated librarian foster a lifelong love of reading and help develop each student’s unique reading journey.
