Safer Together Plan

We are safer and stronger together.

Please continue to refer to this page for the latest updates on Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School's response to COVID-19 and reopening plans for the  2020-2021 school year.  The COVID-19 virus remains a global health crisis marked by daily changes. Information specific to parents will be communicated directly to students and parents via email and The Gap.

Dear Rabun Gap students and families,

Our entire employee community is eagerly waiting to welcome students to campus for the 2020-2021 school year. Our team has been dedicated for many months preparing the health and safety guidelines and protocols necessary to be fully open on campus. We have created the Safer Together Plan, which details some of the ways that we will care for our campus community together. Informed by recommendations from both North Carolina and Georgia State Departments of Education and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as various collaborations with other peer schools, this plan offers ways to minimize the threat of COVID-19 on campus while preserving the character of our Rabun Gap experience and community as much as possible.

We will continue to refine and develop the Safer Together Plan throughout the year as the situations in our area may require adjustments or as new recommendations and guidance are available. Additionally, this plan offers an enhanced flexible learning platform that will ensure continued academic progress should a student need to continue learning at home for a period of time.

Though the 2020-2021 school year will open with some differences, we are committed to preserving those special opportunities for growth, learning, and community that are hallmarks of the Rabun Gap experience. Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a safe community for all and for trusting Rabun Gap to provide a supportive community and exceptional education during this uncertain time.
In consideration of the safety of our residential community, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close all areas of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School campus to the general public beginning March 31. We look forward to the day when we can welcome the community back to the general use of the walking path that so many of our neighbors enjoy.
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School is a private, coeducational day and boarding school for grades Pre-K through 12. Centrally located between Atlanta, GA, Greenville, SC, and Asheville, NC, we prepare young people for college, career, and a lifetime of leadership and service.
