Chris Barrick ’11 talks artificial intelligence with students

Alum Chris Barrick ’11 returned to campus Wednesday, November 2, to share his expertise on artificial intelligence with students for the first STEAM seminar of the 2016-17 school year.
Alum Chris Barrick ’11 returned to campus Wednesday, November 2, to share his expertise on artificial intelligence with students for the first STEAM seminar of the 2016-17 school year.
 
After graduating from Rabun Gap in 2011, Chris earned bachelor’s degrees in computer science and cognitive science. He is currently working on his M.S. in Artificial Intelligence UGA and serves as a research assistant at the UGA Institute for AI.
 
Around 30 students and members of the Rabun Gap community gathered to hear Chris' talk at the seminar. Chris shared how artificial intelligence got its start and talked about research in neural networks, which are formulas that mimic the structure of neurons. He also discussed AI’s applications in video gaming, cell phones and self-driving cars.
