AFFORDING A RABUN GAP EDUCATION

A key benefit of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School  is that students receive a superior education at a reasonable price. The School keeps its tuition and fees modest relative to other leading independent schools by funding more than 40% of its operating cost from an endowment established over the years by generous benefactors. The endowment provides approximately $3 million each year in merit scholarships and need-based financial assistance to more than 60% of the student body.

For the 2009-2010 school year the comprehensive tuition and fees are as follows:

Day Student Tuition
$15,675/year (comprehensive tuition & fees)

Boarding Student Tuition                                        Domestic and International

$34,700/year (comprehensive tuition & fees)
International Student Fee$4,300/year
New International Student Orientation$ 1,500 per year
English as a Second Language (ESL)$ 3,000 per year

Enrollment Deposit

Every new RGNS student must submit a non-refundable enrollment deposit with the contract to reserve a space for the 2009-10 school year.  This deposit is credited to a student's comprehensive tuition and fees account. For new students the non-refundable enrollment deposit fee is as follows: day student - $1567, domestic boarding - $3470, and for both new and returning international - $4,300.

The comprehensive tuition and fee account includes the costs of tuition, meals, Intersession/field trips, infirmary fee, technology fee, mandatory testing fees, art class fee, industrial arts fee, band rental fee, yearbook fee, graduation fee for seniors, tuition refund insurance, and for boarding students a room and board fee, weekly allowance, washer and dryer, and a supplemental boarding infirmary and technology fee. The comprehensive tuition and fees account for international students also includes an administrative fee, medical insurance and a holiday boarding fee. All students, even if they receive financial assistance, are expected to cover expenses for books and uniforms.

Additional expenses may be incurred as the year progresses and are assessed at the time the service is rendered. These additional costs may include additional instructional supplies and materials, additional SAT or ACT testing fees, TOEFL Test fee for international students, and/or additional athletic team apparel (tee-shirts, footwear, jackets, etc.). These items may be purchased through the School and may be paid for using cash, check, and credit card or charged to the student's account. Late fees will be assessed for these items if payment is not rendered according to the due dates reflected on the billing statement.

Payment Options

There are three payment plans from which to choose. Payment(s) may be made to Rabun Gap once per year in June, twice per year (June and November), or in twelve monthly installments beginning in June until the final payment in May. These payment plans do not include the enrollment deposit, which is due at the time the contract is submitted.
