Giving to RGNS

 Welcome to our school

More than 100 years ago, founder Andrew Jackson Ritchie followed his dream to bring quality education to the Blue Ridge Mountains in the northeast corner of Georgia.  This tradition continues today at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School under the direction of John D. Marshall, head of school.  Mr. Marshall has extensive experience in independent boarding and day schools and is leading Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School to serve a new century of learners grounded in the school’s historic values of Work Study Worship.

Dear Friends,

At RGNS, we invite students to “Come move mountains,” investing themselves fully in a stimulating journey of education, growth, and discovery.  Mentored by dedicated and accomplished faculty members, our students explore their potential, knowing with confidence that the Rabun Gap community supports them in their highest and most noble ambitions.  More important than the impressive list of college acceptances each year, students discover and pursue their own passions, whether these are in academics, the arts, athletics, or in service to their fellow man.  At Rabun Gap, students often find simultaneous success in all these areas.

I encourage you to peruse our faculty bios on our web site.  Our teachers from around the world offer young people a rich variety of opportunities that both challenge and inspire.  Our faculty:

  • instructs fifteen Advanced Placement (AP) courses;
  • engages students in collaborative, hands on application of knowledge;
  • utilizes our wireless environment to expand and build student confidence in conducting on-line research and discerning valid information; and
  • values one on one support through a myriad of learning initiatives including our Student Resource Center (SRC).

Our academic and residential faculty mentors, guides, and supports students through the arts, athletics, and other extra-curricular activities.  I invite you to learn more about the amazing accomplishments of our students and this wonderful boarding and day school that supports students of diverse talents, interests, and backgrounds.

Come explore our 1400 acres of possibilities.  Tour campus, meet teachers and students, visit a science classroom, cheer with us at a basketball game, or enjoy a performance of cirque in the Rearden Theater.  The calendar is always full at RGNS!

I look forward to welcoming you to campus.

Sincerely,

John D. Marshall

Head of School
