The Lady Eagles opened the 2011-12 season with a hard-fought 51-44 win against 3A power, Forsyth Country Day School. The girls led by eleven at half and twelve with just over four minutes left in the third quarter. The Lady Furies ended the third period on a 16-3 run to lead 36-35 heading into the fourth quarter. Rabun Gap hit a couple of huge shots from the perimeter early in the final period to lead 44-40. Erica Williams and Amber Wilson had some key offensive rebounds during the final minutes to help preserve the 51-44 victory. Erica Williams led the Lady Eagles with 24 points, 14 rebounds, 7 steals, 6 assists, and 3 blocks. Amber Wilson finished with 9 points and 11 rebounds. Sarah Stackhouse added 8 points and 8 steals. Emily Justus contributed 8 points and 4 assists. Rabun Gap (1-0) hosts Veritas Christian Academy on Saturday during the second day of the Rabun Gap Tip-Off Tournament.
