Rabun Gap Dance Program
Participation in the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School dance program provides students a unique opportunity to engage in the creative and physical enjoyment that comes from learning technique and skills in ballet, tap, musical theater and jazz. Dance classes range from beginner to intermediate-advanced, where four days a week students from both the middle school and upper school practice dance skills that not only prepare them for performance opportunities, but also teach them practical life skills such as: multi-tasking, team building, situational problem solving, and personal responsibility.
The department puts on an annual spring dance concert that showcases repertoire learned throughout the year as well as student choreography. The Rabun Gap dance program also has a performance company known as the Gap Dancers. The Gap Dancers, along with all the dance class students, perform in many school-wide events such as convocation, chapel, Parent’s Weekend and Christmas convocation. Dance students are encouraged to participate in the winter musical and cirque program.
The Rabun Gap dance program offers a well-rounded, creative and critical approach to dance giving each and every student a better sense of self-esteem, body awareness and an emotional connection to their life and surroundings.
